When I had a baby at my side and other children in the cradle, I worked 12 hours a day cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! We were getting close to completing, however the project was still a distance to go. To complete this task, I was prepared to shell out a substantial amount of money and time searching for the perfect home. To stay in the realm of budgets, I took to taking my kids to estate sales in search of diamonds. We used to go on a weekly basis to walk around garage sales and auctions on Saturday and Sunday and purchase a range of furniture, both new and old created. It was my job to spend the day in the driveway working on painting or sanding. The furniture I found looked like... this is when my desire to repair furniture began. I continued to restore furniture long after we completed the renovation of our home. There was a spot on the market in town in which I sold my items. Eventually I had more pieces that I had no idea what to do with and outgrew the area. In my own home, I started hosting open houses where more than 1,000 people were able to come in and buy any item they liked on the 1st floor over the course of a weekend. Growing Days was founded in my own home. Growing Days was more than an extremely successful company, it was also my sweet family. As a mom of a child I was able to strike the right equilibrium to start my own business as well as be a good mother. Growing Days seemed like the perfect match. In 2013, my lovely daughter Nora came along our 4th child. My business's direction was excellent, however I was forced to take some time off. I took a break from creating furniture for vintage homes, and slowed down my pace in order to stay at home and raise the children. This was just what I was looking for. But after a short time I began to hear my phone ringing. They asked for my assistance in decorating and renovations. A majority of these were those who had walked through my home during the open houses for furniture! Then I slowly took on more clients, at my own speed. Then I was able to have many customers and was operating an enterprise of renovations to homes. When I first heard about my home renovation business I laughed. In fact, I do smile when I think about it.
