Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on December 12, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast and she holds the record for being recognized with 10/10 scores in an Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi who was the Romanian gymnastics instructor who later became her coach later on found her around the age of six. First competing in the junior national championships of Romania in 1969, she was 13th. And in 1970, was crowned champion. Three gold medals were awarded in her first competition, a junior pre-Olympic meet in 1972 that was held by the communist bloc nations. The following year, 1973 as well as 1974 she won the junior champion in all-round competitions. The athlete won four golds and one silver in her first international competition for seniors that took place in 1975. This was her first time she participated as an older senior. In 1976, she was the first female athlete in the world who used a double backwards salto in order to take off parallel bars. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol's career began in entertainment as a teenager. At the age of 13 she was a figure skater in traveling shows Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. The show featured dramatic ice skating shows.
